In March 2010, René Smits gave a presentation on the origins of the credit crisis and the way out of the crisis before the Rotary club of The Hague East. His presentation can be found here.
On 17 March 2010, René Smits spoke at the academic session launching the new publication Revista de Concorrência e Regulação (Competition and Regulation Review) issued by the Instituto Europeu da Faculdade de Direito de Lisboa (European Institute of the Law Faculty of Lisbon) and the Autoridade da Concorrência (Portugese Competition Authority). He spoke on the institutional arrangements for financial supervision in Europe after the De Larosière Report. A paper based on this presentation and on a previous presentation before the conference on 10 anos do Sistema Europeu de Bancos Centrais, held in Lisbon on 6 July 2009, will be published in a special edition of Concorrência & Regulaçao dedicated to financial sector regulation.
From 15 - 20 August 2010, the International Law Association (ILA) holds its 74th biennual conference in The Hague.

In the second week of September, René Smits is scheduled to chair the annual seminar in Cambridge (GB) on Legal Risk and Good Governance for central banks and financial supervisors, organised by Central Banking Publications Ltd. The seminar programme will be published here.
